Do This to Turn Your Life Around – Saturn Retrograde

Are you feeling stuck, like whatever you try just isn’t working, that you’re taking one step forward and two steps back? Don’t blame yourself. Blame Saturn!

The old Lord of Karma turned retrograde on the 5th of May, 2020 and he’s going to stay that way until the end of September. It’s not all doom and gloom though. People get twitchy when Saturn takes center stage, but there’s no reason to do so. There are good aspects to this alignment, and spells you can do to work with, rather than against, Saturn’s stern energy. (more…)

The Slow Burn of Mars Retrograde

The planet Mars is the governor of energy and sex. He is the warrior, and he represents the masculine. It’s best not to pick a fight with a child of Mars, because they will fight back. Mars and Venus are the two planets closest to the Earth in the solar system, and compared to the others, their orbits are not that different than ours. Venus requires 225 days to orbit the Sun, and it takes Mars 687 days. (Mercury orbits the Sun every 88 days, and Jupiter requires 12 years.) Retrogrades occur when a planet is passing the Earth, or the Earth is passing a planet on our solar racetrack. Because Mars and Venus have orbits so close to ours, they don’t retrograde as often as the other planets. Mercury retrogrades three or four times a year, and all of the planets except Mars and Venus retrograde once per year. But, Mars only turns retrograde once every two years and two months. (more…)

Defy Difficulties with Mercury’s Magic

A Simple Spell to Sweeten Mercury Retrograde

You’ve probably all heard of it: Mercury retrograde. It seems to be a bit of a buzzword these days, and poor old Mercury gets blamed for many things when he turns retrograde. Much of this is a bad rap–Mercury does this around three times a year, so you’d think that with it happening that often, we’d be used to it by now! But no, we blame lost emails and broken relationships and late busses and pretty much everything else on poor old Mercury as he makes his obligatory journey backwards through the skies. However, there are positive sides to this transit, and if you understand what these traits are, you can use them to your advantage to defy difficulties with Mercury’s magic.

Many people approach the retrograde from a fear-based mindset. The first thing that you want to do to make the most of this magical time is to get rid of that. There’s no need to fear something that is a natural part of life–and this retrograde is a natural part of Mercury’s orbit. For one, this is a great time to focus on mental activities, using your mind to draw to you things that you want to see in your life. Because Mercury rules the thought process, it’s a great time to rethink your priorities, and focus only on what is most important to you.

Venus Retrograde – True Duplicity

Many of us would think that Mercury is the planet of duality, because he is the ruler of Gemini, the twins. But, the mythological Venus, ruler of love, (Aphrodite in Greek mythology) is actually the ruler of two titles. Aphrodite Urania, celestial or heavenly, and Aphrodite Pandemos, common people. This is the distinction between sacred and profane love, or commonly known as the “fine line between love and hate.” In astrology Venus rules two signs, Taurus and Libra. Taurus represents the Pandemos, the earthy, tactile side of Venus, and Libra depicts the Uranian side, morality, properness, and social acceptability. Our modern day “Madonna-Prostitute” complex is a derivative of the mythology of Venus.
